Why we need family portraits

Photographs are so much more than just pictures.  An amazing Chilliwack/Abbotsford family photography session isn't just about capturing a posed photograph for grandparents it's about taking time to document your family history, memorialize your children's childhood, capture your love as a family.

Your daughter dancing with her dad. Your son running into your arms. Your family walking to the water holding hands. These fleeting, joyful moments won’t last forever, and I believe they should be captured in a stunning, beautiful way.  Please make sure you capture those memories, all the precious moments and ages.  Take time to document your family's love for each other and put it on your wall or in an album to be treasured for a lifetime.

What to expect from your Chilliwack Family Photography Session

Booking and Preparing for your Photography Session

If you’d like to book me for your family photography, first we schedule a video or phone call. This provides a chance for us to get to know if we’re a good fit. It’s totally chill and completely non-salesy. It’s important to me that you find the right photographer for your family.

During the chat I’ll find out what you’re looking for, I’ll go through how I work in detail and talk through the investment – all to see if it would work for you.

After our chat, I'll send you a full pricing guide, so you can take your time to make your decision. I’ll also send a link to book, should you wish to go ahead.

After booking, I’ll send you a family session welcome guide which is packed full of information on how to prepare for your family session, including tips on what to wear. 

Closer to the time, we’ll also set up a call to check in, confirm locations and answer any questions.

What will happen on the day of the family pictures?

On the day of your shoot I will meet you at our chosen Chilliwack/Abbotsford location, then spend some time catching up and getting to know the other members of your group.  We’ll go on a nice walk and I’ll capture photos along the way.

When I photograph your family, I want to capture not only a few camera-facing photographs for the grandparents – but plenty of candid, heart-bursting moments as you have fun spending time together. I believe that every family is unique and special, and I enjoy creating images that reflect this.

But won't it be awkward? I'm not a big fan of being in front of the camera.

My superpower as a professional family photographer is my natural ability to make everyone feel totally comfortable in front of the camera. I provide loads of ideas ahead of the session to help you prepare, and during every step of the photo session, I guide you in exactly what to do and how to do it. You’ll never be left to wonder how to stand, move or interact. I will be there to help and reassure you at all times.

All my clients come away from their session saying how easy it was, how much fun they had and how much they love the special moments I’ve captured.

Family Photography Process and Pricing

Get the whole family out for the day and let’s make some memories. This process and pricing structure applies to all 'family' photography sessions - maternity, newborns, babies, small or large families, and extended families.

Step 1: The Session Fee

$200

Full payment of the session fee is required to secure your booking. Booking fees are non-refundable. 
 
The Session fee includes: 
-Planning appointment with personalized styling
-Use of our client wardrobe collection and props
-Portrait session in-studio or on-location
-The editing and enhancing of your purchased images
-Post-session viewing and ordering appointment to choose your final artwork
-Gallery wall installation at your home for custom wall art
 
All artwork and digital images are purchased separately from your session fee.  To give you an idea, my packages start at $650 and include a beautiful wall art piece and a selection of digital images that you personally choose.

Step 2: Consultation

This is a time for us to get to know each other and dream up portraits made just for you. The consultation answers ALL your questions, from what to wear, to how images will be displayed in your home, color design, location planning, and the look and feel of the session. We will discuss all the specifics, and you will handle samples in person, so you see what types of artwork fit best into your lifestyle and home.

 

Step 3: The Session

The day is here! Your session will be full of fun memories and a time just to enjoy being together. I will guide you through your portrait session with poses and actions to create a mix of stylized and natural imagery. You'll spend time cuddling and playing with your family, making lasting memories. Just sit back and relax and let me take care of the details.

Step 4: Choosing Images and Products

After your images are prepared, we will meet for your viewing and ordering session. We'll watch a slideshow (tissues provided;), and after choosing your favorite images, we will work together to design the heirloom artwork. Using my state-of-art software and photos of the spaces in your home, I will show your portraits scaled onto your walls.  I will guide you every step of the way using your goals from the consultation to achieve your vision.
VIEW PRODUCTS

Step 5: Product Creation and Delivery

Your frames, albums and prints are created to the highest standard.  All albums come with two revisions to ensure the layout is perfect for your family. 

Once created we arrange to-the-door delivery of your beautiful products. And if you need help with hanging items - I can even do that too!
